WHAT’S THE ORIGIN STORY OF THIS PHOTO BOOK?
Growing up in the 90s, my fascination with I Spy books sparked a lifelong passion for detail and discovery. This interest led to a love for macro photography during a high school film photography class from 2008 to 2010, capturing the unseen beauty of life up close.
In 2012, my appreciation for the outdoors deepened with a whimsical YouTube video by Lenny Pepperbottom, known for his Neature Walks and the phrase, “how neat is that?!” This encounter inspired a new creative direction.
On my 29th birthday in December 2020, I was introduced to The Stoner Coffee Table Book at a friend’s dinner party. Inspired, I decided to create a coffee table book blending my macro photography with my love for nature, showcasing the majestic wonders of nature.
By February 2021, I traveled to Big Bend National Park for the first time and took the photos you see in this book. With only my 100mm macro lens I captured intricate details of Texas’ beauty and treasure the memories made on that trip and during that chapter of life.
By November 2021, I had edited the photos and started drafting the first edition of my book. In January 2022 the first draft was complete and officially printed.
In August 2022, I launched the hardcover edition on Amazon and in October 2022 I made in-person connections with local book stores and souvenir shops in Big Bend and Terlingua. Then, in October 2023 I created and released an updated and more accessible paperback version on Amazon.
As of August 2024, I am pursuing opportunities to wholesale my books in Austin, TX, and souvenir shops in Big Bend, sharing my journey and visual perspective with the world.
This book chronicles my evolution from a curious child to a passionate photographer, forever inspired by nature’s beauty. I hope you enjoy the photos as much as I enjoyed taking them!

BOOK OF THE MONTH: “The Stoner Coffee Table” by Steve Mockus — I chose this book for August because as we celebrate the 2 Year Anniversary of publishing my Neature ft. Big Bend National Park Coffee Table Photo Book, I’ll be sharing behind the scenes of it’s creation.
The visual inspiration origin store of my Neature book began on my 29th birthday December 2020 when at a friends house for dinner. They had this on their coffee table and when looking through it I was inspired to create my own photo book. Since high school I’ve loved macro photography as well, so in my book you’ll see a theme of that, along with inspiration drawn from the layout of this book. A favorite aspect was how they chose photos side-by-side, so as you flip through my book you’ll notice how each were intentionally laid out.

TOP FAVORITE SONGS FOR JULY 2024:
QUOTE OF THE MONTH: “You are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream.” – C.S. Lewis
I chose this quote for August because it sparks such joy in me! Itās a reminder that the dreams I cherished as a kid are still alive and kicking, no matter how many candles are on my birthday cake. Plus, the thought of uncovering new dreams as I grow older is absolutely thrillingāthereās a whole world of possibilities out there just waiting to be explored
WORD OF THE MONTH: Words are the foundation of human communication and expression. They allow us to convey our thoughts, feelings, ideas, and experiences to others, creating a bridge between our inner world and the external reality. Every word carries its own unique power and nuance, shaping the way we perceive and interact with the world. Having a “Word of the Month” has been me a source of inspiration, sparked creative thinking, and promoted my love for language. This month’s word is “vacillate”.
Synergy: (noun) the interaction or cooperation of two or more organizations, substances, or other agents to produce a combined effect greater than the sum of their separate effects.
Example: Emily’s passion for macro photography and nature synergizes powerfully, allowing her to capture the raw intricacies of the environment with a bold, artistic flair.
RECIPE OF THE MONTH: Brownies + Lemonade
This section of the newsletter is dedicated to my Mom, who loves cooking our favorite Cajun recipes that were passed down to her from her Mom, my MawMaw. This month though I’ll be sharing a fun after school treat my mom would made on our 1st Day of School. Each year me and my sisters would get home and the traditional chocolate brownies and lemonade was waiting for us. It was a fun tradition that started the school year off and I’m always reminded of it each August as schools start back in session for the year. Tbh, these were not homemade and we would typically use boxed brownie and lemonade. I hope you enjoy this one š from my kitchen to yours —
INGREDIENTS:
1 box of chocolate brownie mix, to your liking
1 package of lemonade, to your liking
