WHAT’S YOUR SMALL BUSINESS STORY?
This summer as I celebrate my LLC’s 5 year milestone, I’m thrilled to dive deeper into the details of this month’s Local Small Business Photo Session Giveaway in Austin, TX.
As an artist, I firmly believe in the importance of routinely creating for oneself. It’s not always about profit margins; sometimes, it’s about nurturing your own creativity. As a photographer, I make it a point to carve out time each month to create something just for me. This practice helps “fill my own cup back up,” enabling me to better serve and inspire others.
This July’s photo session giveaway excites me because if offers a dual benefit: I get to replenish my creative well, while simultaneously helping another small business do the same. Local business can enter themselves, or you can nominate a deserving business.
Whose ready to make some memories and celebrate the milestones in our business together? Click the link below to fill out an application and I’ll be in touch with the winner!

BOOK OF THE MONTH: “This is Supposed to be Fun” by Myisha Battle — I chose this book for July because tbh I’ve been single for what’s coming up on 4 years now and since my last 5 year relationship I’ve been avoiding dating. This book has been a fun read as I get back into the dating world and I thought yall might enjoy as well!
MONTHLY NEWSLETTER PLAYLIST // This month we really decided there were no rules and I added (ironically enough) 32 songs that I either had on repeat these past few summers or helped me get through moments of life. So far this has been to most unhinged add for the Spotify Newsletter Playlist yet (second to May’s Top 10 Favorite from the new TS TDP album) so please enjoy 😎❤️🎶
TOP FAVORITE SONGS FOR JULY 2024:
QUOTE OF THE MONTH: “You’re going to have to work hard for the things you want in life. It takes alot of mental and physical work, hustle, and effot. You can do it!” -me
This was a quote I taped on my desk in 2018 when I first had the idea of starting my own photography business. I was still working a full time job then so I knew it was going to be a balancing act and that my patience and determination would be tested. To this day I still have that quote taped inside my planner so I can see it and be reminded each day.
WORD OF THE MONTH: Words are the foundation of human communication and expression. They allow us to convey our thoughts, feelings, ideas, and experiences to others, creating a bridge between our inner world and the external reality. Every word carries its own unique power and nuance, shaping the way we perceive and interact with the world. Having a “Word of the Month” has been me a source of inspiration, sparked creative thinking, and promoted my love for language. This month’s word is “vacillate”.
Vacillate: (verb) alternate or waver between different opinions or actions; be indecisive.
Example: Emily often finds herself vacillating between choices, having a hard time making decisions about things she knows could change the trajectory of her life.
RECIPE OF THE MONTH: Oreo Dirt Pudding
This section of the newsletter is dedicated to my Mom, who loves cooking our favorite Cajun recipes that were passed down to her from her Mom, my MawMaw. This month though I’ll be sharing a super quick and easy recipe in honor of me moving to Austin a few weeks ago! I don’t have my kitchen set up entirely yet so those first few nights I was working with very limited ingredients; a russet potato, a pound of turkey bacon, garlic salt seasoning, and butter. The final touch was the icecream, which I didn’t make from scratch lol that was definitely store bought, but vital to the meal nonetheless. If you’re moving to a new city too and haven’t set up your kitchen but still want to make a quick meal, I hope you enjoy this one 🙂 from my kitchen to yours —
INGREDIENTS:
1 pack of Oreos, crushed
2 packs of instant vanilla pudding
