documentary photography:
by the people, for the people.

Hi, I’m Emily — a documentary photographer, native Texan, and U.S. citizen using my voice, presence, camera lens, and online platform to stand up for what’s right.

This page is where I’ll be sharing images from peaceful protests and public demonstrations — moments I believe are critical to witness and preserve for future generations. When fascism and corruption rule, protesting and resisting against it in any way, shape, or form becomes a civic duty.

I’m not a journalist, I’m just a citizen with a camera, a computer, a heart, a moral compass, and a deep sense of responsibility. I’m using the tools I have — my photography skills, my web design skills, my empathy, and my compassion — to stand in active resistance. I don’t claim to speak for everyone, but I do show up with the hope of honoring what I see, and documenting with care, truth, and integrity. This is my way of contributing, of bearing witness, of helping others feel seen, heard, and represented.

I believe in integrity. I believe in doing what’s right, even when no one’s watching. And in a world where mainstream media often tells a narrow, curated version of the truth — especially with the current administration in office censoring media outlets — I feel an urgent responsibility to document for the people, WE THE PEOPLE. The ones who are on the right side of history. The ones showing up, speaking out, and putting their bodies on the line for justice. The ones advocating for their friends, family, neighbors, and community.

If you’re not able to physically attend peaceful protests for any reason — please know that there are so many other powerful ways to support this resistance. Every voice, every skill, every kind of presence matters in this fight against this fascists, authoritarian, oligarchy, and billionaire funded broken system.

If I told you I wasn’t scared to tie my name to these images, I’d be lying. It’s nerve-racking to speak out online — to know that anything you post can be twisted or targeted and that there are bad people in the world who will target me and silence me — especially in the wake the tragic and politically motivated assassination of Minnesota lawmaker, Melissa Hortman, and attempted assassination for other Minnesota lawmaker, John Hoffman.

I keep asking myself:

What would I have done if I had lived in Germany during the 1930's and 1940's or in the U.S. during the Civil Rights Movement in the 1950's and 1960's? Would I have used my voice, my physical presence, and stood alongside my community in resistance to injustice — or would I sit silent, comply, and go about life like it was normal?

And every time my gut instincts tells me:

This is it. This is what I’m here to do. This is how I can contribute and make a difference in the resistance and help the people — past, present, and future.

I’m using my passion for photography and web design, my skills, and my courage to document this moment and these times in history — because silence is a privilege I refuse to use. This is not just a chapter in my career. It’s part of my purpose.

Thank you for taking the time to read this — I’m so glad you’re here and I'm looking forward to continuing our united fight against fascism, friends!

Cheers,
Emily
